How a match works →

Frequently asked

  • Where do these words come from?

    They are the actual English word list of Scramblio — the words the game draws from in an English match. The list is curated by hand, rated easy, medium or hard, and updated in the app without a new release, so these pages follow it.

  • How does Scramblio choose and scramble a word?

    Each round draws a random word, weighted across the three difficulty levels. The letters are then shuffled several times and the arrangement that best matches the word's difficulty is kept: easy words keep more letter pairs together, hard words come out almost completely jumbled.

  • Do capital letters matter when I answer?

    No. Answers are compared in lower case, so the word only has to be spelled right. In languages with accents the game ignores them too, so you can type at full speed.

  • Can I get help with a long word in a match?

    Yes. On words longer than 4 letters you can reveal up to 3 letters letters, one at a time. Each hint costs 3 coins and 8 seconds of your own timer, and your opponent only sees that you used one — never the letters.
